Ende von Handy-Gesprächen (the end of mobile phone calls)

Thorsten Dirks, head of german mobile phone carrier E-Plus makes the bold (ha!) statement that in the future we won’t be using mobile networks for making phone calls but mostly use them for data transfer and will use some VoIP app instead. He says this will happen in 5-6 years. I say: Why wait that long?

Thorsten Dirks, Chef von E-Plus hat laut FTD verlauten lassen, dass er das Ende von herkömmlichen Mobiltelefonaten in 5-6 Jahren sieht. Stattdessen werden Provider dann keine Gespräche, sondern nur noch eine Datenflatrate anbieten, Telefonate würden dann über VoIP geführt.

Für mich ist das allerdings eigentlich jetzt schon der Fall, bis auf VoIP, denn das darf man ja bei den meisten mobilen Datenflatrates nicht. Normal telefonieren kommt bei mir aber aufgrund der meist undurchsichtigen Tarifstruktur (Pseudoflatrates usw.) auch kaum noch vor.

Daher frag ich mich: Worauf wartet der Mann. Erlaube er doch bitte VoIP schon heute bei seinen Flatrates und verbilligere er diese gleich mit. Danke!
